Terms

The Context Club is run by Lance Reinier Kraakman, a sole trader in New Zealand.

The club

The Context Club gives its members API access to open models that the club runs together. Members vote on which models it adds. These terms are an agreement between you and the person who runs the club, named above. They apply when you join, and when you use the site or the API.

Membership and payment

  • Plans are weekly and priced in US dollars; your bank may add a fee for paying in another currency. Stripe takes the payments; we never see your card.
  • Before the club opens you reserve your seat: your card is saved and nothing is charged. Your first week is charged on the day the club opens. If it doesn't open on the planned date, we set a new one and email you, and you're still not charged. You can cancel any time before then.
  • You can cancel any time. Your plan then runs to the end of the week you've paid for, and isn't renewed. Part-weeks aren't refunded, except where the law says they must be.
  • Upgrades start at once; you pay the difference for the rest of the week. Downgrades start at your next renewal.
  • We'll give at least two weeks' notice of any change to a plan's price, by email and in the Discord.

Priority tokens and the standard queue

Each plan includes priority tokens each day; they reset at midnight NZ and don't carry over. After those, your requests carry on in the standard queue, which serves them when priority requests aren't waiting. Speeds and waiting times vary with how busy the club is. A standard request can be refused after waiting 10 minutes, and standard requests can't start a GPU that's off overnight. On rare days the club may pause until midnight NZ. The How it works page explains this.

Fair use

  • Your API keys are for you and your own tools. Don't share them or resell access.
  • Don't use the club for anything illegal, or to harm others.
  • Don't try to break, overload or get around the club's limits.
  • We may pause a key or an account that breaks these rules. Where we can, we'll tell you first.

Where the club runs

The club rents GPUs through Vast.ai, a cloud GPU marketplace with hosts in several countries. The club's models run in their own container on each machine, kept separate from other customers' work. Your prompts are processed on that machine while your request runs, and may stay in its memory for a few minutes so your next request is faster. The club itself doesn't store them (see Privacy).

The service isn't designed for confidential or regulated data, such as health records or payment details. The club may move to GPUs in certified datacentres if members want them.

What the models say

The models are open models made by others. Their answers can be wrong, and you decide how to use them. What you send and what you get back is yours.

No guarantees

The club is run by a small team. We work to keep it running well, but we can't promise it will always be available or fast. As far as the law allows, our liability to you is limited to what you've paid us in the last four weeks.

Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have under consumer law, such as New Zealand's Consumer Guarantees Act 1993. If you join for a business, you agree that Act doesn't apply.

Changes and law

We may update these terms. We'll tell members about important changes by email and in the Discord before they apply. These terms are governed by the law of New Zealand, and the courts of New Zealand settle any dispute about them.
